Hua Hin is small town located on the Gulf of Thailand ~225km south of Bangkok. Many ex pats live here, and many tourists stay long term: 1 - 3 months. Despite the large number of tourists, the town still has a Thai feel with markets and traditional homes. The royal family has a summer palace here as well.
From Hua Hin, it is easy to get to/from Bangkok, Bangkok (BKK) airport, Koh Samui/Koh Pha Ngan, Phuket, and other southern destinations including Malaysia.
